It is organised by the Club d’Escacs Cor de Marina Badalona with the help of the Most Excellent City Council of Badalona and is part of the XX Catalan Circuit of International Opens organised by the Catalan Chess Federation, with category B in the general classification and category A in the classification by sections. This tournament is approved by the International Federations, Spanish and Catalan Chess, and will serve to obtain International Standards. The 2 groups will count towards elo FIDE, FEDA y FCE.
This tournament will be played using the Dutch Swiss system (C.04.3) in 9 rounds in 2 groups:
Grup A: players with elo Fide 1950 or higher
Grup B: players with elo Fide 1949 or lower
Anyone who voluntarily participates in Group A waives the right to score in their section (corresponding to Group B), both for tournament prizes and for the XX Catalan Circuit of International Opens.
The game days will be from August 3 to August 11, 2025 and the game times will be as follows:

The maximum time to appear in front of the board is 60 minutes from the start of the round. Players who do not attend a round without justification will be eliminated. Breaks requested by players will be scored with 0 points.
The pace of play for all groups will be 90 minutes plus 30 seconds per move, for the entire game.

Pairings will be made using the “Swiss Manager” computer program. The pairing will be published no later than 3 hours after the end of the round and will be final at 9 a.m. on the same day of the round..
The regulations on mobile phones will be the same as those of FIDE. During the game, players are prohibited from using any notes, sources of information, advice or analysis on another chess board.
During the game, the player is prohibited from having any device not specifically approved by the referee.
Referee decisions may be appealed in writing, no later than 30 minutes after the incident in question, by depositing a €50 deposit together with the complaint, to the Competition Committee of the tournament, which will be made up of the Tournament Director and two players, with two other players as reserves. The members of the Competition Committee will be chosen by the Organisation, and will preferably be qualified referees. The deposit will be returned to the claimant in the event that the decision is favourable..
Analysis will not be permitted in the Game Room, but may be carried out once the game has finished in the Room provided for this purpose.
Games used specifically for the tournament may not be transferred to the Analysis Room.
Photographs may only be taken during the first 15 minutes of each round, with the exception of the Organisation.
Drinks may only be brought into the gaming room in closed containers, which will be left at the base of the table, not on top..

Veteran players are considered to be those born in 1959 or earlier. For U-12, U-14 and U-16 players, their age on 1 January 2025 will be taken into account.
The prizes will not be cumulative under any circumstances, and will be awarded at the closing ceremony, which will take place on August 13th once all the games have finished. Under no circumstances will the prizes be awarded before the closing ceremony, and those who are absent at the closing ceremony will lose the prizes won in the tournament.
The tax withholding established by current legislation will be applied and the winning players will have to bring their ID, NIE or passport to the prize ceremony to collect the prize.

Players invited by the organisation and current age champions proposed by the Catalan Federation will be exempt from paying registration fees.

Participants will cede the right to their image to the Organization and/or third parties for the dissemination of the contest, the results of the event and the promotion of Chess.
Throughout the competition, players must behave with the highest sportsmanship and decency both inside and outside the playing area. Any violation of Article 11 of the Laws of Chess (the conduct of players) or refusal to comply with the requests of the referee or the organization will result in automatic expulsion from the tournament, losing all rights to prizes and trophies..
The organization reserves the right to refuse admission of any registration.
